Hello, and welcome back to Bluefox blogs, featuring yours truly. Today we are going to talk about 5 different cleaning tips and tricks you didn’t know. If you happened to know these before reading this blog, then congrats, you’re an overachiever. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
The best glass cleaner money can buy.. Cleaning glass can be a pain in the a**. Now, we know we are not the only ones who hate cleaning glass. For some reason, glass cleaners always leave those annoying residue streaks. This is because of the ammonia found in most glass cleaners. The fact is, most glass cleaners don’t do all that great of a job sparkling up your mirror. AHA, but there’s hope after all, hope in the name of vinegar… Yes, vinegar… We’re actually willing to bet you have some laying around your house as we speak. Vinegar has a natural acidic component to it, that makes it great for getting things like water spots and toothpaste off your mirrors. The best part is, it doesn’t streak. Fill up a spray bottle with some vinegar and grab a microfiber rag. Spray down the mirror and wipe side to side, top to bottom. This solution will give you a sparkling clean mirror in no time.
Toilet bowl cleaner in your shower.. This next one is a life saver if you have a tile shower. Now we all know it is tough to clean in between your tiles. Here’s a lesser known secret, grab some toilet bowl cleaner and an old toothbrush. Apply the cleaner directly onto the grout lines and let soak for 5-7 minutes. While it’s soaking you can use the toothbrush to scrub the grout. One you’re done scrubbing, rinse with warm water, and whala. There you have it, nice clean grout in your shower. Note* Don’t let the toilet bowl cleaner sit for an extended period of time.
Top to bottom.. Now this next one is right in front of your face, and believe us it slips our minds all the time. Cleaning top to bottom is the most effective way to get anything clean. Cupboard? Fridge? Cabinet? Yes, apply some all purpose cleaner to any of these surfaces, and work your way from the top to the bottom. This way, you’re not recleaning surfaces that have already been cleaned.
Soap Scum.. Soap scum and watermarks are probably your worst enemy… They’re definitely ours. The crazy part is, there’s an extremely simple formula that takes care of this for you. Dawn Dish soap and you guessed it, vinegar. Here’s how you do it. Take 1 cup of vinegar, measure into a measuring cup, add ¾ cup of dawn dish soap. Place in the microwave and heat for 1 minute on medium. Take the solution and pour into a bottle, no don’t shake the bottle too much, you do not want the solution to be at all sudsy. Take the bottle and apply to water stained areas typically found in your shower and sink. Let the solution sit for 1 hour, then wipe down with a warm wet rag, rinse the area thoroughly. It helps on glass doors to have a squeegee handy. So there you have it, an age old trick that takes care of that nasty soap scum.
The most efficient cleaning method.. Can you guess what the most efficient way to clean a room is? Well we’re here to tell you. After cleaning hundreds of houses ourselves, we’ve narrowed it down to one thing and one thing only. Circles… Yes circles. You see, most of the time when you’re cleaning a room or a home, you go to whatever looks messiest, what you’re missing out on is the fact that you’re walking all over your house focusing on different spots. Pick a spot and work in a clockwise circle moving from top to bottom. This works in bathrooms, living areas, bedrooms ect. Now go and try it out for yourself.
So this brings us to the end of today’s blog. We hope you learned something and that you’ll apply these very assets into your everyday life, until next time… Clean On.
